Honestly are a small team of beekeepers based in Aotearoa (New Zealand). We produce small batch, highly concentrated Manuka made to support everyday health.
Manuka is a monofloral honey from New Zealand, made by bees foraging on the indigenous Leptospermum scoparium (mānuka) shrub.
While regular contains around 100 compounds, Manuka contains over 2,000 - including MGO, a powerful antibacterial found nowhere else in such extraordinary amounts.
Rich in antibacterial compounds
Derived from dihydroxyacetone (DHA) in mānuka nectar, this disrupts bacterial cell membranes and is present at 100× higher concentrations than in standard honey.
All honey contains H₂O₂ from glucose oxidase, but mānuka's non-peroxide activity is unique. It persists even when H₂O₂ is neutralised — the key differentiator.
pH ~3.5 and very low water activity (high sugar concentration) create a hostile environment for pathogens, synergising with MGO.
Mānuka honey naturally contains trace minerals and plant-derived compounds such as polyphenols and antioxidants. These elements aren’t about high doses — they’re part of a wider, whole-food matrix that works in synergy with Mānuka’s naturally occurring bioactive properties.
Unlike fortified products or supplements, these compounds exist in their natural form, shaped by the Mānuka plant and New Zealand’s environment. They contribute to Mānuka honey’s role as a functional food, supporting everyday wellbeing through balance.
In essence, it’s not one ingredient doing the work, but the way nature intended them to work together.
Present in small amounts; varies by batch and floral source
A functional food for balanced wellbeing
Effective against MRSA and other drug-resistant bacteria, including Helicobacter pylori linked to stomach ulcers.
Rich in phenols and flavonoids, reducing oxidative stress associated with chronic disease and ageing.
Prebiotic properties support beneficial gut bacteria; early evidence for reducing IBS symptoms and acid reflux.
Promotes tissue regeneration; approved as a medical-grade wound dressing (MediHoney) by the FDA and CE mark.
Inhibits Streptococcus mutans (tooth decay) and reduces gingival inflammation in clinical trials.
Anti-inflammatory; soothes mucous membranes and may reduce the duration of upper respiratory infections.

Mānuka honey is a protected export in New Zealand, but more 'Mānuka honey' is sold globally each year than the country could possibly produce.
Much of it contains MGO levels of around 100, not enough to see any benefits. Ours starts at 350+.
Sourced ethically, in partnership with beekeepers
Some big honey companies source Manuka honey at or below market rates - prices that have been driving small to medium-sized beekeepers out of the industry in New Zealand. We choose a different path. We believe the people behind the honey, those who care for the land where Manuka grows, deserve a fair price for their craft and dedication.
We don't just offset carbon emissions - we remove them. Through a partnership with Climeworks, we utilise direct carbon capture technology to remove the carbon directly and store it back in the ground, ensuring minimal impact for every jar of honey bought.
Most brands blend their honey each year to achieve a consistent texture and flavour profile. Whilst this is good business sense it can create what we believe to be an inauthentic product. We jar our honey in small batches - straight from beekeepers as nature intended.
Every jar of Honestly honey comes with a direct link to its origin. No blending, no mystery - just pure, traceable Mānuka honey from the untouched landscapes of New Zealand.
